Somerset Hills Kitchens designs and builds kitchens, baths, cabinetry, and tile work across the Somerset Hills and the neighboring Morris County towns — Chester, Mendham, Bedminster, Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, Far Hills, and Peapack-Gladstone.
We work almost entirely in existing homes rather than new construction, and that shapes how we approach a project. Houses in this area were built across a century and a half, and the difference between a renovation that goes smoothly and one that doesn’t is usually decided before demolition — in whether someone checked the septic system before designing a sink, confirmed what the gas riser diagram needs to show, or tested the floor before the crew arrived with a grinder.
Most of what goes wrong in a remodel is knowable in advance. We try to know it in advance.
How We Work
We tell you what needs a permit and what doesn’t. Some kitchen work genuinely doesn’t require one. We’re not going to inflate a scope to justify a process.
Everything is in writing. New Jersey requires a written contract for any home improvement work over $500, with specific start and completion dates and the materials listed. That’s the floor, not the ceiling.
We don’t sell you the more expensive option by default. If stock cabinetry will fit your room properly, we’ll say so.
We put the constraints on the table early. If your home is on septic and that rules out a garbage disposal, you’ll hear it during design rather than after the cabinets are ordered.
